Tell a Friend About This Event
The Empire State Aerosciences Museum, located at 250 Rudy Chase Drive (off Route 50) in Glenville, NY will host its monthly all you can eat breakfast on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 8:30 am – 10:30. Enjoy an assortment of pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, potatoes, juice, coffee, tea and more. As a special treat, at 10 am, author George Leopold of Virginia, will speak about the life of Astronaut Gus Grissom and his book “Calculated Risk: The Supersonic Life and Times of Gus Grissom” on the official launch date of the book. Unlike other American astronauts, Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom never had the chance to publish his memoirs, save for an account of his role in the Gemini program, before the tragic launch pad fire on January 27, 1967, which took his life and those of Edward White and Roger Chaffee. Drawing on extensive interviews with fellow astronauts, NASA engineers, family members, and friends of Gus Grissom, Leopold delivers a comprehensive survey of Grissom’s life that places his career in the context of the Cold War and the history of human spaceflight. Mr. Leopold will be signing his book that day, available for purchase from the Museum. Open to the Public. Fly-In if you would like. Pilots: Tower Frequency 121.3; Ground 121.9. Land at Schenectady County Airport and taxi to Richmor Aviation North. Tell them you are going to ESAM.
